Seabourn holds coin ceremony for Pursuit, with Lynn Narraway named ‘madrina’

Seabourn Pursuit, coin ceremony

Seabourn has marked a major construction milestone for its second purpose-built expedition vessel Seabourn Pursuit with a traditional coin ceremony at the T. Mariotti shipyard in Genova.

The role of ‘madrina’ for the ship was served by Lynn Narraway, the line’s vice-president of UK and Europe and one of the company’s longest-serving female executives.

Narraway welded a box containing four commemorative gold coins to the ship and was joined by Robin West, Seabourn’s vice-president and general manager of expeditions, and by Marco Bisagno, T. Mariotti Shipyard’s president and Marco Ghiglione, T. Mariotti’s managing director.

Narraway said: “It is such a ‘Seabourn Moment’ for me to be a part of this incredible tradition and to serve as madrina of Seabourn Pursuit.

“We are very excited for our second luxury purpose-built expedition ship to join the family when she launches this summer.”

Seabourn ‘counting the days’ to launch

Seabourn president Natalya Leahy added: “The coin ceremony is a highly anticipated moment in the construction of Seabourn Pursuit and I am grateful to T. Mariotti for their partnership throughout the new-build process.

“We are counting the days until this beautiful ship can take our extraordinary guests to the most out of the ordinary destinations that only a few ever visit in their lifetime.”

Pursuit will enter service on 12 August with five voyages in the Mediterranean before embarking on two voyages across the Atlantic and through the Caribbean.

In October, the ship will arrive in Barbados from where it will begin its expedition journeys, including in South America, the Amazon and Antarctica.
