An uptick in cruise bookings has helped homeworking firm InteleTravel increase turnover by 28 per cent in the first quarter of 2024, compared with the same period in 2023

From January to March this year, cruise bookings made up 13.9 per cent of the company’s overall sales, representing an increase of 5.3 percentage points on the same months last year.

Earlier this year, InteleTravel reported that cruise holidays accounted for 10% of its total turnover, representing a 20% improvement on the first two weeks of January 2023.

At the time, the agency also saw a 10% jump in sales with the most popular destinations including the Middle East, the Mediterranean and the Indian Ocean.

During the first quarter of 2024, InteleTravel’s top 50 agents generated more than £2.5 million worth of bookings, with average sales of £50,000 per agent. Homework and owner of Travel Less Ordinary Col Ord booked 320 cruises in his first 12 months as an advisor.

Agent performance ‘has been exceptional,’ says InteleTravel UK boss

InteleTravel UK and Ireland managing director Tricia Handley-Hughes said: “The performance has been exceptional and we are excited by the growth in our cruise business.

“Our three-tier partner programme which we set up at the beginning of last year has been a game changer and the suppliers who have come on board with it have reaped the rewards with incredible support from our agents. The disciplined, pre-planned delivery across various channels ensures we hit all the spots at peak times.”

She added: “Since the first quarter, the trend upwards has continued, and we expect to go from strength to strength and have yet another year of successful trading.”
