CLIA’s #ChooseCruise campaign, which is now in its third week, is focusing on the opportunities for learning and self-enrichment while on a cruise.

The initiative, which aims to boost cruise sales throughout September and October, includes an online agent toolkit, complete with marketing and PR guides, plus shareable videos and images for social media campaigns.

It has previously focused on relaxation, and sports and fitness.

Andy Harmer, CLIA UK & Ireland director, said: “Cruise holidays can prove to be a perfect platform for anyone wanting to expand their horizons.

“The days when onboard activities were limited to talks on photography or picking up gardening tips have been superseded by an era of new learning initiatives, aided by onboard libraries that can extend to thousands of books.”

Harmer added that those looking to learn something new are “spoilt for choice”, with a range of classes, seminars and lectures available.

“Guests can sharpen up their cooking skills in state-of-the-art show kitchens onboard many ships or unleash their artistic talents in engaging craft studios,” he added.

“There’s a class to suit all interests, ranging from fencing sessions, acting and dance classes to tai chi seminars, film-making lessons and foreign language tutorials.

“Talks by distinguished lecturers and informed speakers onboard ocean and river ships offer fascinating insight into the history of the ports that the ships visit. On cruises in places such as Alaska and the polar regions, wildlife experts often come onboard to share their knowledge on the animals that live there.

“With cruise holidays offering such a variety of enriching opportunities, you can be guaranteed a voyage of discovery when you #ChooseCruise.”
