The BWT Alpine Formula One team has unveiled its new car for the upcoming 2026 season onboard MSC Cruises’ MSC World Europa in Barcelona

The event, hosted by radio and TV presenter Clara Amfo, saw MSC Cruises executive chair Pierfrancesco Vago,  the team’s drivers, Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto, and Alpine F1 executive advisor Flavio Briatore reveal the new car in the World class ship’s Panorama Lounge.

The car is the first to ever be launched on a cruise ship and will make its debut on 5 March at the Australian Grand Prix.

“This is an amazing ship, and a brilliant venue for the launch of our new car,” Gasly said. “2026 will see a massive revamp across the grid, and when there are big changes there is big opportunity. I believe in the team and I believe in the people we have.”

Vago, meanwhile, praised the cruise line’s partnership with the team and drew comparisons between the companies’ “innovation” goals. “I want to thank my dear friend Flavio for working with us, and I wish the very best to the drivers for the upcoming season.

“We are extremely proud to have been part of this legendary moment on board MSC World Europa. While cruising and Formula 1 may seem worlds apart, we share the same DNA – a deep commitment to teamwork, innovation, and creating unforgettable moments, just like those our exceptional crew deliver on our ships each and every day.”

BWT Alpine Formula One Team executive advisor, Flavio Briatore, said: “I am very grateful to our partners at MSC Cruises not just for hosting us today here in Barcelona, on this incredible ship, MSC World Europa, but also for their support and commitment to our team. They have proven to be genuine partners as we prepare for what will undoubtedly be a unique season in Formula One history, not least for us with the new technical regulations.”

Last year, Formula 1 and the cruise division of the MSC Group confirmed a multi-year extension that sees the company continue as a global partner of the motorsport through 2030.

The announcement marked an early renewal of the partnership, which began in 2022, with Formula 1 and The MSC Cruise Division – made up of MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys – agreeing to the continuation of existing rights, including title races, trackside branding and hospitality activations.

Following the launch of the new car, World Europa will embark on a week-long Mediterranean cruise calling in Marseille, Genoa, Civitavecchia, Messina and Valletta.
