Brits eye late deals as bookings from US and Australia soften

British holidaymakers are increasingly looking to secure last-minute cruise deals as demand from major overseas markets dips, according to new data

It comes after Seascanner recorded a 13 per cent year-on-year increase in bookings made during July 2026 for cruises departing in July, August or September.

Searches followed the same trend, with 26 per cent more searches made in July 2026 for cruises departing between July and September than during the equivalent period in 2025.

Tony Andrews, managing director of the online cruise specialist, put the shift down to an increase in available cruise capacity thanks to new ships coming online, as well as a dip in bookings from major overseas cruise markets.

“There are some great opportunities for anyone hoping to snap up a late cruise bargain this year,” he added. “More and more ships are hitting the water, which means thousands more cabins are up for grabs.

“At the same time, bookings from big overseas markets such as the US and Australia are looking softer, with everything from extreme weather and global tensions making some travellers think twice about long-haul trips. That could spell good news for flexible Brits looking to get away in the next few months.”

Andrews advised that a late deal “does not necessarily mean packing your bags tomorrow”, and looking up to three months ahead can give travellers who can be flexible around departure dates, ports and cabins more choice.

“And with holidays at sea representing such good value, often with meals, entertainment, children’s club and so much more included, now’s the time to get booking,” he continued.
