A-Rosa plans restart on Europe's rivers

A-Rosa to restart river cruises this month

A-Rosa River Cruises has announced that it will likely restart its Rhine and Danube itineraries for select departures around 31 May 2020.

This news comes following the announcements from the German regional authorities and Austrian authorities regarding the relaxation of lockdown measures.

This includes the reopening of hotels, restaurants, river cruises and day cruises for tourists, which will come into place before the end of May.

Currently, the cruise line’s care team is working on a hygiene and health concept that incorporates the current safety measures and distancing regulations for its guests and crew.

A-Rosa CEO Joerg Eichler comments: Following the long period of lockdown, we are delighted to be able to welcome our guests on board again and enable them to enjoy their holidays with us. It goes without saying that our primary responsibility is for the welfare of our guests and crew.

“Therefore, we have put together a team of experts consisting of both internal and external hygiene and health specialists.”

A-Rosa UK and Ireland managing director, Lucia Rowe, comments: We hope the industry will be encouraged by the fact that A-Rosa is already making plans to sail again.

“Obviously, once customers from the UK are able to travel overseas, we look forward to welcoming them back on board.”

A-Rosa has said that it is continuously monitoring the requirements of the authorities in various countries and that further information relating to cruises in France and Portugal will be announced in due course.
