Europe in focus: NCL fixes sights on the continent

Norwegian Cruise Line NCL Europe

Sponsored by Norwegian Cruise Line

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) is once again gearing up for another summer season of immersive itineraries in Europe. Nick Dalton takes a closer look at what the line has on offer for your guests in 2026

Europe’s a big place, particularly when it comes to cruises. From the mighty fjords in the north to the chink of ice in the cocktails as you make the deck your new home way to the warmth of south, from the coast of Britain to the continent’s very edge, there’s a whole world of experiences. It’s a big challenge to unite the continent and Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) does that with a vast fleet of big, beautiful ships.

There are 21of them and 9 will be sailing in Europe in 2026. Destinations to dream of… Iceland, where puffins fill the clifftops, Istanbul, the Turkish city that drifts across the Bosphorus into Asia, the beaches of Greek and Italian islands, and history-filled capital cities such as Athens and Rome.

NCL pledges to give guests the kind of holiday they dream about – but coming at it from a different angle. For Europe in 2026 the line will offer your customers:

* 150 ports in countries from Montenegro, the breathtaking fjord setting of Kotor, to Malta, the magnificent, fortified port of Valletta. There’s also the historic beach city of Cadiz, Spain, the undiscovered Koper, Slovenia’s only port on its 28-mile coastline. Then there’s the Baltic, the chance to visit nine countries – Denmark, Sweden, Poland, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Germany and Norway – in nine sensational days.

* A dozen ships to consider, from cosy 1,900-guest Norwegian Sun, a timeless cruise experience, to 3,200-guest Norwegian Viva, a futuristic, snub-nosed beauty topped with The Drop, a twisting tube slide pouring over the side, and with the outdoor Soleil bar at the rear, one of the great places to drink at sea.

* Many cruises with few sea days – some with none at all – and longer times in port, giving more chance to explore.

* A chance to see inside the countries guests visit rather than simply skimming the surface with Go Local shore excursions. For example, a guided wander through Barcelona’s lesser-known neighbourhoods, with tapas, or meeting folk at a refreshingly uncommercialised fishing village near Oporto in Portugal, with a trip to a tavern.

Sailing with NCL gives guests a taste for the good life – and it’s there on every ship. Wonderful restaurants such as panoramic Hudson’s, curving around the front of Viva (steak’s always on the menu), or NCL’s innovative Indulge Food Hall, part buffet, part made-to-order, with festival-like stands serving Texan, Mexican and a world of other cuisines in a casual setting.

Have guests who you think will fit the bill? If so, recommend the seven-day Greek Isles from Ravenna, south of Venice to Rome’s port, Civitavecchia, on Norwegian Gem®, taking in Italy, Greece & Croatia from May – October 2026, from £835pp**.

Or the 10-day Greek Isles voyage from Istanbul to Ravenna on Norwegian Viva, sailing in June/July 2026, from £2,605pp**. For the best value at sea, encourage your customers to upgrade to the Free at Sea™ package, so they can enjoy premium drinks, wifi, speciality dining and excursion credits.
