Celestyal Cruises has become the latest cruise line to extend the suspension of its sailings until 30 July 2020.
This comes following the recent announcement from the Greek government that the country’s tourism season will gradually recommence in the next few weeks, with international flights from select countries resuming in July.
Celestyal Cruises will be working closely with the Greek authorities on the development of enhanced health and safety protocols in preparation for its return to service.
Celestyal Cruises chief commercial officer, Leslie Peden, comments: “We apologise to our valued guests for the inconvenience this further temporary suspension will cause.
“I’m confident they understand that we take into consideration all aspects that will ensure the well-being of our guests and crew.
“It’s encouraging to see that Greece is prudently commencing it’s reopening for international tourism in a phased manner following the country’s globally acclaimed best-practice handling of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“When the time is right, we look forward to recommencing our operations and welcoming guests back on board.”
Impacted guests are being offered a future cruise credit valued at 120 per cent of the original booking value and have until the end of December 2021 to redeem this against any of the cruise line’s itineraries through the end of December 2022.
Guests who choose not to redeem their future cruise credit will automatically receive a full refund equal to the original amount paid upon the voucher’s expiry. Celestyal Cruises will automatically send the voucher directly to guests or their travel advisors.
The cruise line’s updated ‘peace of mind’ policy also allows guests to change any cruise that sets sail from now through 31 December 2021. This applies to new bookings made until 31 August 2020.
As long as the booking is changed at least 30 days before the sail date, a future cruise credit for 100 per cent of the value received by Celestyal Cruises will be issued. The credit can be used toward any cruise that sets sail through December.
