Azamara Quest has left Glasgow’s Peel Port after 13 months in preparation for Azamara’s return to service in August.
The ship has been docked in the city with Azamara Journey and Azamara Pursuit.
Azamara Quest is now heading to Cadiz, Spain, where it will spend a period in dry dock before starting five back-to-back Greece Country Intensive Voyages from 28 August.
The ship will call at Santorini, Rhodes and Heraklion and will feature a new immersive on-board programme, Destination Celebration, which the line said is an adaptation of its AzAmazing Evenings.
The line’s president Carol Cabezas said: “We want to extend our thanks to Peel Ports for hosting the Azamara fleet and to the Glaswegian community who have not only welcomed our ships and crew with open arms but have also made an integral contribution in maintaining and preparing our vessels, ensuring that we can get back to doing what we do best this summer – connecting people to people, people with cultures, and people with themselves. As the ships ready to return to the oceans the generosity of Glasgow will be fondly remembered.”
Peel Ports Clyde port director Jim McSporran said: “We’ve been honoured to have had the three Azamara ships docked at KGV over the past year. Their giant presence has been a spectacular addition to the River Clyde scene, drawing sightseers from Glasgow and beyond.
“While we’re sad to see Quest leave, followed soon by her sister ships, it is an encouraging sign that the gradual removal of Covid restrictions taking place will soon see the cruise industry return to its pre-pandemic scale of operations.”
Azamara is preparing to welcome a fourth ship, Azamara Onward. The vessel, which formerly sailed for Princess Cruises as Pacific Princess, is scheduled to sail its inaugural season around Europe in 2022.
