AmaKaia and AmaSofia will strengthen AmaWaterways’ Europe and Mekong product offerings when they join the fleet in spring and summer 2026
Launching first on 24 May 2026, AmaSofia will be the line’s 24th ship European river cruise ship, with its inaugural 14-night Magnificent Europe itinerary starting in Amsterdam and ending in Budapest.
Itinerary highlights include guided bike rides through scenic vineyards and small towns, visits to a pretzel bakery, tours of castles and palaces and deep dives into the region’s historic cities. A total of 31 departures will take place throughout 2026 and will go on to offer a variety of Danube-based itineraries.
Meanwhile, AmaKaia will become the line’s second Mekong ship when it launches on 3 August 2026. Two seven-night itineraries – Charms of the Mekong and Riches of the Mekong – will invite guests to explore the ancient cultures of Vietnam and Cambodia, with traditional “xe-loi” (trishaw) rides, visits to local workshops and monasteries, and the chance to take part in a Buddhist Blessing Ceremony.
AmaKaia will begin its sailing season with 22 departures in 2026, before increasing to upwards of 38 the following year.
Earlier this year, the luxury river cruise line announced it will offer flight-inclusive river packages as standard for all UK guests in response to agent feedback.
