Amadeus River Cruises announces new ship for 2021

Amadeus River Cruises

Amadeus River Cruises has announced a new ship for 2021, the Amadeus Cara, sailing primarily on the Danube and Rhine rivers.

It will become the 17th passenger ship in the company’s fleet and will debut at the end of April 2021.

The line’s founder and managing director, Dr. Wolfgang Lüftner, said: “The new ship in 2021 will not only serve as much needed extra capacity increase for the great demand for our high quality river cruises, but is also a promise to our passengers that we will continue to offer one of the most modern fleets in the five-star segment.

“As a family business, our most important role is to exceed the high expectations of our guests from the very first day of their cruise. When they are on board, they should feel as though they are a part of our big Amadeus family.”

The ship will offer a total of 70 cabins and 12 suites. The cabins on the Mozart and Strauss deck will also feature panoramic window fronts which can be lowered and extend across the entire breadth of the cabin and have been developed especially for the fleet of ships.

All cabins and suites have spacious bathrooms, infotainment systems, flatscreen TVs, telephone, cabin safe, minibar and air conditioning which can be individually regulated. The suites also offer outdoor balconies with a seating area.

The name Amadeus Cara, which originates from the Latin for “valuable” and “precious”, was consciously chosen to “underline the family business’s commitment to luxury river cruise ships”.

Fred. River Cruises head of river, Sukie Rapal, said: “With the continued growth in river cruising, we are very excited to welcome Amadeus Cara to our portfolio. Amadeus River Cruises is a trusted and respected brand in the UK and offers incredible experiences, itineraries and shore excursions to their guests”

Being built by Dutch shipyard DeHoop, it’s maiden voyage will be the eight-day Danube Rhapsody round trip from Passu. For the remaining season, the ship will travel on the Danube to the Black Sea, as well as between Amsterdam and Basel on the Rhine.

Amadeus has been adding to its river cruise fleet, with Amadeus Imperial due April 2020.
