Viva Cruises has announced that its second new-build ship will be christened in its homeport of Dusseldorf in March next year.
Viva Two – a sister ship to Viva One – will then set sail on its inaugural voyage from Frankfurt to Passau on 1 April.
The 190-guest ship will feature a new exhaust system that includes a catalytic converter and particle filter, enabling the vessel to meet EU standards, according to the cruise line.
Viva Cruises taking ‘big’ sustainability steps
Viva Cruises MD Andrea Kruse said: “We are delighted to be able to welcome nationally and internationally invited guests and business partners to our second major christening to celebrate our second new build ship, Viva Two, together with them and then to send her off on her first voyage.”
Speaking about the sustainability measures on board, Viva and parent company Scylla AG MD Arno Reitsma added: “This is a big step towards more sustainability and at the same time a prerequisite for the now mandatory Gold Ecolabel of the international environmental award, Green Award.
“With our second new-build ship, we are once again focusing on sustainable construction and on moving forward with a heavy focus on the environment and the current times.”
