The cultural cruise firm won Best Luxury Cruise LinerBest Midsize Cruise Liner and Best River Cruise Liner at the 2017 British Travel Awards last night. The awards remain the only travel industry accolade voted for exclusively by the consumer.

Held in London and attended by more than a thousand professionals working in the travel industry, Viking said it had experienced a particularly successful year.

It recently celebrated 20 years of exploring inspiring destinations around the world, including the launch of two new ocean ships in 2018 and 2019. Next year will see its first-ever river and ocean combination cruises.

Viking Cruises has previously won four awards in 2016 alone at the British Travel Awards, for Best River Cruise Line, Best Cruise Line for Customer Service, Best New Ocean Ship (Viking Star) and Best Luxury Cruise Line and it has been crowned Best River Cruise Line for eight years running.

Wendy Atkin-Smith, Managing Director of Viking Cruises, said: “We are delighted to have won three fantastic awards for our river and ocean cruises, which offer a truly unique. The fact that the British Travel Awards are voted for by consumers makes this all the more special.”

British Travel Awards’ Chief Executive Lorraine Barnes Burton said around 722,473 votes were cast by the travelling public this year to determine the winners.

Viking also announced today that it will be headline sponsor at the Hampton Court Palace Festival for a second year running. The festival brings together a range of music fans across many genres of music, from intimate concerts, of star line ups with The Beach Boys and Gary Barlow.
