Viking has taken delivery of two new river ships, Viking Annar and Viking Fjolvar
Both vessels will sail in Europe and were built at Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany.
Viking Annar has capacity for 190 passengers in 95 cabins and will sail on the Rhine, Main and Danube.
It will operate itineraries such as Rhine Getaway, Grand European Tour, Passage to Eastern Europe, European Sojourn and Christmas on the Rhine.
Meanwhile, Viking Fjolvar can cater for 168 passengers in 84 cabins and has been built to sail on the Seine where it will depart on roundtrip cruises from Paris, with itineraries including Paris & the Heart of Normandy and the new Christmastime in Paris & Normandy.
Leah Talactac, Viking president and chief executive, said: “We are proud to welcome the Viking Annar and the Viking Fjolvar to our growing fleet of award-winning river ships.
“Exploring by river offers an unmatched way to discover a destination’s history, culture and local life, and these new vessels allow even more curious travellers to experience Europe in Viking comfort.”
Last year, Viking became the first cruise line to reach a centenary of ships, following the launch of nine new river vessels in Basel, Switzerland.
The brand plans to take delivery of an additional 22 river ships by 2028, bringing its total number of river vessels to 114, plus it has orders in place for nine ocean vessels and two expedition ships, which will bring its number of ocean and expedition ships to 26 by 2031.
