Clients will be able to explore the depths of the world’s oceans aboard Seabourn’s new state-of-the-art vessels.

Seabourn has unveiled the design and details of its new custom-made submarines, which will be available aboard the cruise line’s upcoming luxury, purpose-built expedition vessels. Launching in 2021, Seabourn Venture and her sister ship will carry two U-Boat Worx Cruise Sub 7 subs, which have been designed specifically for Seabourn.

Guests will have to pay an additional charge to partake in the submarine’s excursions. Each battery-powered sub will carry six guests and one pilot, who will guide the journey up to 300 meters beneath the surface to explore sunken wrecks, reefs and view marine wildlife in their natural habitat.

Passenger will sit in two clear acrylic spheres flanking the centre pilot’s station, thereby giving them unrivalled sightings of the surrounding marine life. The three passenger seats in each sphere are mounted on a rotating platform to once again ensure the best views possible.

“The undersea world is often considered as the last great frontier on Earth, with more than 80 per cent of the underwater realm remaining unmapped, unobserved and unexplored according to the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration,” said Seabourn vice president of expedition operations Robin West.

“With these subs, we’re going to take our guests to places that few have ever seen first hand, leaving them with a perspective on the world around us that is jaw-dropping and will create stories to last a lifetime.”

Each sub will be kitted out with custom-embroidered leather upholstery, two air conditioning systems, a Bluetooth stereo system and champagne chiller.

Seabourn Venture is scheduled to launch in June 2021, with a second yet-to-be-named sister ship slated to launch in May 2022. Both ships have been designed with the concept of combining expedition travel with ultra-luxury experiences.

Between July 2021 and April 2022, Seabourn Venture will visit more than 150 different and unique destinations across the globe, covering the Arctic and Antarctica, the Amazon, Caribbean, Central and South America, and more.
