Saga Cruises has announced the itineraries for its first river cruise ship Spirit of the Rhine, due to debut in spring 2021.
The 190-passenger boutique river ship will sail routes along the Rhine, Moselle, Main, Danube and the waterways of Holland.
The inaugural, six-night Bootleg Beatles voyage will feature music by the British band’s leading tribute group and will include a private, guided tour of The Beatles museum in Alkmaar, which features an extraordinary collection of personal memorabilia.
Other itineraries include a seven-night Flowers on Parade cruise with TV presenter and gardening expert Charlie Dimmock on board; a Jazz and Tulips in the Netherlands voyage from Amsterdam performed onboard by Richard Leach’s Jazz Quartet; a From Rembrandt to Rubens sailing with the UK’s leading auctioneer and TV presenter Raj Bisram; and a Gilbert and Sullivan on the Rhine cruise with live performances.
There will also be a Mystery Cruise for eight nights departing on 19 May.
Spirit of the Rhine will echo the boutique styling of Saga Cruises’ new ocean vessels and most of the 17 sq m cabins will have a French balcony and floor-to-ceiling windows.
Other features will include a lounge with a bar and separate library area, main restaurant and a smaller, reservation-only restaurant with show cooking, and a large sun deck with a hot tub, barbecue and extensive seating.
All cruises will be sold on a full-board package, to include wine, beer and soft drinks with lunch and dinner plus complimentary tea, coffee and water. Saga Cruises’ VIP car service will also operate for every cruise.
There will be a minimum of three included excursions on each cruise and Saga is dedicating a Rhine cruise to solo travellers in the autumn.
