Riviera Travel has confirmed that two on-board luxury enhancements, which were set to be introduced last year, will instead be unveiled on its 2021 European river cruises.

The Riviera Plus package will be available to all guests in upper-deck cabins and deluxe and superior suites. The package includes a range of premium benefits, including a smart handset with unlimited calls, text messages, internet usage, local maps, a translator and currency converter.

In addition, evening menus are being refined to include ‘Local Flavours’ dishes every evening, which will be themed on the regions guests are visiting. 

A choice of wines to showcase both popular and lesser-known grape varieties will also be available, with many sourced from vineyards close to ship visits.

Both enhancements are included within the price and are available on 23 European river cruises (excluding Russian river cruises) plus eight solo traveller voyages, currently on sale. Destinations include the Danube, Rhine and the Rhone.

In February, Riviera celebrated its best day of trade bookings for nearly a year. The operator saw agent sales almost double month-on-month, and hit their highest level since March 2020.

Riviera Travel head of product cruise & worldwide Katja Hildebrandt said: “Life’s luxuries have been in short supply recently, so we wanted to offer both Riviera Plus and Local Flavours again.

“Guests can take some well-deserved time to both explore and unwind with our on-board extras, as well as feel more connected to the places we visit through our delicious and varied locally sourced cuisine.

“If your customers are looking to escape from it all on their next holiday, they now have the perfect excuse to book one of our 2021 European river cruises.”

The operator also has a fully flexible booking promise, valid until 30 April, which allows clients to change a booking for free any time prior to 45 days before travel on 2021 holidays. In addition, up to €400 on-board credit is available on select European river cruises.
