Hurtigruten has appointed Chris Barker as key account manager, “strengthening the company’s commitment to its UK and emerging market travel trade partners”, the line said.
Barker has previously held sales roles at Celebrity Cruises, Riviera Travel and Designer Travel.
In his new position, he has been tasked with working with the Hurtigruten sales teams to support trade partners, grow key accounts, enhance agent engagement and develop new opportunities across both the UK and emerging market regions.
“Joining Hurtigruten is a really exciting opportunity for me because it’s a brand with such a distinctive heritage, a clear sense of purpose and a strong vision for the future,” he said.
“What especially resonated with me is how closely the company’s values align with my own, particularly its emphasis on care for guests, for colleagues, for local communities and for the enviornment.
“It’s a brand with a strong story and passionate people behind it and I’m looking forward to being part of that journey.”
Matt Stuart, sales director UK and emerging markets, said: “It’s clear that Chris brings a breadth of travel industry experience to this role.
“As we continue to strengthen our partnerships with agents and tour operators, his experience and enthusiasm will be a real asset.
“Norway remains a highly sought-after destination and it’s essential that we continue to work closely with our trade partners to showcase the unique experiences that set Hurtigruten apart. His appointment reinforces our commitment to these markets as we look ahead to continued growth.”
