Queen Anne arrives in Liverpool ahead of historic naming ceremony
Cunard’s highly anticipated Queen Anne arrived in Liverpool this morning (3 June) ahead of the naming ceremony, where the ship’s godparent will also be unveiled
The UK luxury cruise line, which is hosting more than 150 agents for the ceremony, expects tens of thousands of people to gather along the waterfront to join in the celebrations, which take place 184 years after Cunard’s first transatlantic crossing from Liverpool.
“Queen Anne’s British Isles Festival voyage is celebrating the very best of Great Britain and Ireland and we are delighted that our newest ship has now arrived in Liverpool,” said Katie McAlister, president of Cunard.
“This wonderful city is the spiritual home of Cunard, and we share such an incredible bond, so what better place to officially name our new ship than somewhere that holds so many special memories.
“We are all so excited for the city to see Queen Anne up close during what promises to be a very special celebration.”
Queen Anne ready to make a splash
Queen Anne will offer guests a wide choice of accommodation, ranging from ultra-luxurious suites to spacious balcony and inside cabins, as well as a three-deck atrium centred upon the Grand Lobby.
Other new guest areas include The Pavilion – an open terrace on the top deck with a glass roof that retracts in warmer climes – and the Wellness Studio, a retreat for fitness fans that will be open from sunrise to sunset.
