Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings has announced an extension of its suspension of voyages across its three cruise brands.
The latest extension includes voyages embarking between 1 July and 31 July 2020. Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises had originally cancelled sailings up to the end of June.
Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings said in a statement that the voyage suspension contributes to global efforts to contain the spread of Covid-19.
The company has also said it will continue to work in tandem with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the federal government and global public health authorities to take all necessary precautions to ensure the health, safety and security of guests, crew and the communities visited.
Guests who are currently booked on voyages with embarkation dates between 1 July and 31 July 2020 on Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises or Regent Seven Seas Cruises have been asked to contact their travel agent or the cruise line for more information.
This announcement comes a week after Norwegian released its first-quarter financial report, revealing a net income loss of $1.9 billion compared to $118.2 million in the prior year.
In spite of this, the company believes it is still “well-positioned” to cope with an extended suspension of sailings should this scenario arise.
