Hurtigruten has promoted Iain Powell to the role of chief commercial officer where he will be responsible for overseeing the line’s global commercial strategy
Powell, who has held senior commercial roles at TUI, Carnival UK and Saga Travel Group, joined Hurtigruten in March 2024 as vice president of sales & marketing, before being promoted to managing director for the Nordics, UK and emerging markets.
In his new role, Powell will be responsible for strengthening the company’s market position and creating “greater value” for guests and travel agent partners around the globe.
Hedda Felin, CEO of Hurtigruten, said: “We are very pleased that Iain is stepping into the role of CCO. In a short time, he has demonstrated leadership, business acumen, and the ability to execute. These qualities will be critical for the company’s continued progress.”
Powell added: “I’m delighted to take on this role and very much appreciate the support that the business has given me.
“There’s strong demand from people wanting to experience Norway, and we are fortunate to have a truly unique product.
“We are very well placed to capitalise on this demand, and we see a significant opportunity for growth.”
