Frank A. Del Rio has stepped down from his role as president of Oceania Cruises

Del Rio Jr, who has worked for the company since his father Frank Del Rio opened the line’s Miami headquarters in 2003, was praised for his “enduring legacy” by Jason Montague, chief luxury officer for parent company Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH).

In a statement issued to the company’s travel agent partners on Tuesday (18 February), Montague said: “Both Frank and his father, our company’s founder, have left an enduring legacy on Oceania Cruises and the broader industry.

“I want to personally thank Frank for his outstanding stewardship of the brand, positioning it for an incredibly bright future, and for assembling an exceptional leadership team. We wish him all the best in his next chapter.”

Last month, NCLH appointed Montague to oversee the expansion of Regent Seven Seas Cruises and Oceania Cruises.

The restructure saw Del Rio Jr report to Montague and president of Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Andrea DeMarco, step down after remaining in the position to facilitate a handover.

Montague previously served as a special advisor to NCLH for two years having led the Regent Seven Seas Cruises brand as president and chief executive officer until 2022.

“As with any great brand, evolution and growth are essential, and Oceania Cruises is no exception. At the same time, continuity is equally critical to long-term success, and consistency remains a foundational pillar of Oceania Cruises,” Montague added

“One of the greatest drivers of this continuity is our people. Many of our team members have been with us for decades, with deep roots tracing back to Oceania Cruises’ early days.

“Having worked on the business plan that launched this company in 2002, I can personally attest to how special this brand is and how deeply it has been a part of my life for over 20 years.”
