Explora Journeys has cancelled its 2026-27 Middle East season on Explora II due to ongoing conflict in the region

The line had initially planned to operate a full winter season in the Middle East running from November 2026 to March 2027 on Explora II.

However, the ship will now sail a range of Western Mediterranean and northern African itineraries instead, with calls including Funchal, Casablanca, Santorini, Capri, Ibiza and a New Year’s Eve celebration in Cannes.

Customers on affected sailings will be contacted directly, the line said.

A spokesperson said: “This decision has been taken well in advance, following careful consideration and reflecting Explora Journeys’ commitment to providing agents and travel advisors with clarity and confidence as they plan their future journeys.

Explora II is instead offering thoughtfully designed itineraries across the Western Mediterranean. Guests will be invited to experience this celebrated region during the winter season, when its rich heritage, refined gastronomy and timeless beauty can be enjoyed in a more intimate and relaxed atmosphere.

“All guests with reservations on updated journeys, along with travel advisor partners, will be contacted directly, with dedicated support provided and appropriate options offered where applicable.”

Widespread travel disruption began at the end of February when the US and Israel launched military action in Iran and killed Iranian leader Ali Khamenei in air strikes. Iran responded by bombing US allies in the region, including Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Kuwait.

Other lines have faced deployment challenges as a result, including Celestyal, which has been forced to cancel several Mediterranean sailings due to repositioning issues.
