Reigning Wimbledon champion Jannik Sinner has become the first guest to sail on Explora III following the ship’s naming ceremony in Genoa, Italy

The World No. 1 tennis player and Explora Journeys global brand ambassador joined the opening leg of the vessel’s Mediterranean Prelude Journey from 24 to 25 July.

During the voyage from Genoa to Marseille, guests participated in interactive wellness and social experiences with Sinner and members of his team aboard Explora Journeys’ first LNG-powered ship.

Travellers also had the opportunity to join Q&A sessions, where Sinner shared insight and behind the scenes stories following his recent Wimbledon triumph. Guests also enjoyed access to In Balance: A Jannik Sinner Ocean Wellness Programme, a new offering developed in collaboration with Explora Journeys and now available on board Explora III.

To mark its launch, guests participated in sessions led by members of Sinner’s performance team, including Simone Vagnozzi, Darren Cahill, Umberto Ferrara and Andrea Cipolla, with Sinner making special appearances throughout the programme.

At the conclusion of the first Q&A session, Anna Nash, president of Explora Journeys, welcomed Sinner as the very first Honorary Diamond Member of Explora Club, the brand’s loyalty programme, presenting him with a commemorative Diamond Chaton.

Sinner also officially inaugurated Explora III’s new padel court alongside captain Serena Melani and Nash. Together, they cut the ceremonial ribbon before he took to the court for a rally with his coach.

The opening leg of the Mediterranean Prelude Journey concluded with a charity gala dinner at the French-inspired Fil Rouge restaurant, bringing together Sinner and representatives of the Jannik Sinner Foundation, the MSC Foundation and Explora Journeys.

During the Mediterranean Prelude Journey, guests have enjoyed an exclusive behind-the-scenes preview of the ship before it arrives in Civitavecchia (Rome) on 29 July, ahead of its naming ceremony in Barcelona on 1 August and its maiden journey to Lisbon on 3 August.
