Cunard exhibition receives agents’ seal of approval

Cunard, exhibition in Liverpool.

Cunard has been praised by travel agents for demonstrating its heritage and design plans for new ship Queen Anne at a special exhibition in Liverpool.

Agents were invited to the exhibition at the University of Liverpool’s Victoria Gallery & Museum to see the “luxury cruise brand’s history brought to life”, a statement said.

Titled Travel in Style – Iconic Cunard Advertising in the 1920s and 1930s, the display provides a glimpse of the brand’s seafaring heritage.

It features 14 vintage posters that were used by Cunard to advertise its services alongside associated materials including brochures, menu cards and collectable souvenirs from the era.

Also on display are several pieces that have inspired design choices for public spaces on board Queen Anne.

Cunard ’embracing its heritage’

Miles Morgan Travel personal travel advisor Maurice Kulis said: “This was a very interesting event and I enjoyed seeing how an iconic brand is investing in its future by taking inspiration from its past.

“The setting at the Victoria museum was perfect, especially as Liverpool is Cunard’s spiritual home.

“Cunard has the strongest heritage in the industry and it looks like Queen Anne has absolutely everything.”

Jane Chadwick, a Go Cruise franchisee, added: “I thoroughly enjoyed the event – it was the best I’ve been to for a long time because as agents we felt included and made to feel really important.

“Cunard is never afraid to embrace its heritage and I feel as though this exhibition really romanticises the golden era of luxury travel. Listening to the various speakers and understanding the Queen Anne journey was absolutely fascinating.

“The attention to detail was remarkable, and as people who are hugely passionate about the industry, events such as this make you appreciate a brand and their offering even more.”

Meanwhile, Carol Kirkham, of Kirkham Travel, said it was “brilliant to meet the designers and hear how they have updated the Cunard crest and evolved other design features”.
