Costa Cruises has become the latest cruise line to announce the further suspension of its cruises until 30 June 2020.
This is the third time the cruise line has extended its pause of operations due to the continued impact of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
Costa was meant to resume sailings on 15 May, more than a month after the original resume date of 3 April was scheduled back in March, but due to the continuing emergency situation across the globe, the cruise line has made it clear that this date can no longer go ahead as planned.
In a statement, Costa Cruises said: “Due to the continuation of the emergency situation linked to the global pandemic of Covid-19 and with the continuation of containment measures such as closing ports and restrictions on the movement of people which do not actually allow to operate, the company extends the suspension to the whole month of June.
“Costa Crociere is taking steps to inform both travel agents and guests affected by the changes. They will be guaranteed a reprotection in accordance with the applicable legislation, which offers the greatest guarantee in this contingency situation.”
