Celebrity Cruises is introducing its first dedicated diversity and inclusion training module to its online e-learning platform, Cruising for Excellence.
Agents will be able to learn how the cruise line is supporting diversity and equality in the LGBTQ+ community and working for equality for women and all cultures, as well as those with physical and mental challenges.
The module is presented through presentations and short films to provide selling tips and more information on how the cruise line cares for its guests either at home, on-board or within the community.
Claire Stirrup, director of sales, Celebrity Cruises UK and Ireland, said: “Celebrity Cruises prides itself on its outstanding service and impeccable attention to detail, ensuring every single guest feels not only welcome, but also valued when sailing with us.
“This is why we have invested in creating initiatives to provide our agent partners with the necessary tools they need to market to our diverse range of consumers, such as the LGBTQ+ community.
“We are keen to lead the cruise industry in acceptance and equality, and we’re looking forward to working with agents to deepen their understanding of our work in this area in the future.”
As part of the selling process, agents can also watch a short film on the largest Pride Party at Sea, to showcase how Celebrity Cruises has introduced welcoming parties, Pride parties, same-sex marriages at sea and ceremonies across the entire fleet.
In addition, agents can get up to speed with Celebrity’s involvement in various causes, including its partnership with the Malala Fund, whose mission is to advance free, quality education for girls around the world. The charity is named after Malala Yousafzai, the Godmother of the new Celebrity Edge, which is due to launch in December 2018.
