CMV offers reduced fares for 2020 cruises

Cruise and Maritime Voyages (CMV) is offering passengers savings of up to 50 per cent on many 2020 cruises.

Launched on 2 January, the reduced fares are available on five of the British cruise line’s ships, including Columbus, Magellan, Marco Polo, Vasco da Gama and Astoria up until 31 March 2020.

Recently promoted CMV sales director Lisa Jacobs said: “CMV is already 70 per cent sold for 2020 so there is now further incentive to book your cruise holiday at great value fares.

“We decided some time ago that those who book early should not be disadvantaged to anyone who may find availability at the last minute. These new offers represent great value with so much included in CMV fares.

“For example, a ‘Hidden Baltic Treasures’ cruise on Columbus departing from London, Tilbury on 19 October for 12 nights where the full fare was £1,829pp is now just £919pp.”

Departures are available from 15 UK and Irish ports to a variety of different destinations, so British cruise passengers can save money by travelling from a port closer to home.

Among the new cruises with reduced fares on offer is a Magellan cruise to the Norwegian Fjords from Newcastle 25 April for seven nights, reduced from £1129pp to only £569pp.

Another is a sailing from Bristol Avonmouth on board CMV’s classic vessel Marco Polo on 14 April, visiting ports around the British Isles on an 11 nights cruise. The original fare of £1,759pp is now £879pp.

The fare quoted is based on two people sharing a twin inner cabin and includes full board cuisine; afternoon teas and late-night snacks; Captain’s cocktail party; complimentary tea and coffee from 6am until midnight; entertainment, cabarets and classical interludes; daytime activities and leisure facilities; guest speaker and arts and crafts; porterage of luggage; port to cabin, and port taxes.

For added convenience, CMV operates an automatic tipping system on board its ships, with a £7 per person per night gratuity being debited to the guest’s on board account.

In other news, CMV promoted nine of their department heads to director level at the start of this year. Among those promoted included Lisa Jacobs to sales director, Mike Hall to marketing director, Dave Eastwood to passenger sales director and Bob McGowan to director of product & guest services, among others.

Chris Coates at CMV commented: “We are entering our eleventh year. Many of our management team have been with the company since the early days and are the reason we are now the size we are. We are committed to working with the travel trade.

“The fact that we have had a consistent team means that we have developed strong partnerships and the trade can have every confidence in working with CMV in 2020 and beyond.”
