Virgin to place Scarlet Lady in dry dock for cosmetic upgrades

Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady dry dock

Virgin Voyages has announced plans to place Scarlet Lady into dry dock from 14-28 November for a series of cosmetic upgrades

The programme will see several Sea Terrace cabins on deck 11 be converted to create 24 Seriously Suite RockStar Quarters, which measure 352 sq feet with a European king bed, in-room record and vinyls, a stocked bar and the brand’s Yellow Leaf hammock.

A new range of VIP cabanas flanked by white curtains and daybeds overlooking the Aquatic Club, which can be reserved individually or connected for larger group celebrations, will also be added.

A new evening concept in vegetarian restaurant Razzle Dazzle named Lucky Lotus by Razzle Dazzle will also be installed, and will offer a Chinese-inspired menu with craft cocktails paired with a new design which swaps communal tables for booths.

Ground Club Too, the ship’s coffee bar, will now transform into a full-service bar with lounge space and elevated cocktails at night and The Wake’s raw bar will be readapted to display the eatery’s collection of wines.

The ship’s non-smoking casino will expand, adding additional slot machines and exclusive spaces, and the Redemption Spa will see the creation of a couples treatment room while the current Thermal Suite, outfitted with portholes, heated quartz beds, a mud room, cold-plunges, sauna and salt room, remains untouched.

Once the ship– which will also debut a new mermaid on its bow – has completed its renovations, it’ll make the 16-night trans-Atlantic journey from Rome to Miami before embarking on a series of longer Caribbean voyages.

The six-night Western Caribbean Charm and eight-night Eastern Caribbean Antilles will sail to destinations such as St. Croix, Costa Maya, Roatán, San Juan, Puerto Plata and Bimini.

Virgin Voyages responds to consumer feedback with Scarlet upgrades

“Since her much-anticipated debut in 2021, Scarlet Lady has sailed the world, welcoming hundreds of thousands of sailors [guests] on-board while delivering irresistible vacations,” said Nicole Huang, VP of fleet experience.

“We’re listening and giving travellers more of what they’ve asked for – this includes more suites, luxe new cabanas and fresh, vibey dining concepts – so sailors can truly live the life of a rockstar.”

It comes after the line’s vice president of international sales Shane Lewis-Riley earlier this week announced he had left the brand to “pursue new opportunities and challenges”.
