U by Uniworld’s second ship, The A, has embarked on its first sailing along the Rhine.
The A is a 120-passenger ship that sails on the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers, taking in the Netherlands and Central Europe. Guests can take part in a variety of experiences such as mixology classes, silent discos, yoga, wine tastings, farm-to-table dining and more.
On shore, guests can experience some of U’s culturally immersive excursions including an evening tour in a medieval castle; a foodie tour through the Jordaan district of Amsterdam; visiting Keukenhof’s tulip gardens; and a scenic bike tour and wine tasting at Eberbach Monastery, used as a filming location for ‘Game of Thrones’. Active programming includes U Time Optionals such as blokarting on the beach at speeds of up to 60mph, rock climbing, kayaking, and ‘Mine Biking.’
Dining experiences utilise ingredients from local markets and are inspired by the fares of the cities that are visited along the way. From comfort food to organic, healthy options, U’s master chefs accommodate every type of palate.
The A features four suites, 26 balcony bedrooms, 29 studio bedrooms and two triple occupancy studio bedrooms; all with waterfront views, flat screen TV’s, built-in Bluetooth speakers, USB ports, and more. Continuing its sustainable travel initiatives, U by Uniworld offers organic BeeKind amenities in all rooms, uses WhatsApp and email for internal communication with guests, displays menus on screens in the bar and restaurant, and has a Press Reader app for guests to keep up-to-date with news on board.
“We’re thrilled that our second U by Uniworld ship has officially set sail on the Rhine,” said Ellen Bettridge, president and CEO of Uniworld. “U continues to bring adventurous and curious travellers a completely new river cruise experience, with longer stays in destinations that allow guests the chance to truly immerse themselves in the local culture. It’s a way to experience these incredible destinations like never before.”
The A offers three eight day itineraries on Rhine, Main and Danube rivers, and two specially themed holiday itineraries.
