Two major cruise corporations extend sailing suspensions

Royal Caribbean Group and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings have extended their respective sailing suspensions.

Royal Caribbean Group has announced that a majority of its global operations are suspended through to 28 February 2021, while Norwegian Cruise Line is now also paused through to 28 February.

In a statement, Royal Caribbean Group said: “While we continue to work with the CDC and government authorities around the world towards the shared goal of safely returning to cruising, Royal Caribbean Group will be extending the suspension of some sailings.

“We will be reaching out to our guests and travel partners to share further details and address any questions or concerns they may have.”

However, Quantum of the Seas has resumed operations in Singapore “with comprehensive health and safety measures in place meeting the requirements of the CruiseSafe Certification standards developed by the Singapore government”, the group added in a statement.

The group’s full suspensions for its brands are as follows:

  • Royal Caribbean International:
    • Australia sailings suspended through 30 April 2021.
    • Spectrum of the Seas China sailings suspended through 20 January 2021.
    • Quantum of the Seas is resuming service in Singapore.
  • Celebrity Cruises:
    • All global sailings suspended through 28 February 2021.
    • South America sailings suspended through 7 April 2021.
  • Silversea Cruises:
    • Suspended through April 1, 2021, except for the 6 February 2021 sailing of Silver Origin.
  • Azamara:
    • Suspended sailings through to 20 March 2021.

As for Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, the group said: “The company continues to work through its return to service plan to meet the requirements of the framework for conditional sailing order issued by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.”

In addition to the pause for NCL sailings, the suspension includes all voyages on Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises embarking between 1 January through to 31 March 2021.
