Scenic Group’s third Discovery Yacht is on track to be delivered in late 2027 ahead of its April 2028 inaugural season
Scenic Ikon, which the company said will “redefine” ultra-luxury expedition cruising, will cater for up to 270 guests in 135 all-verandah suites ranging from 34 to 250 square metres over five decks.
The vessel will be purpose-built for polar regions and warm water destinations and rated Polar Code 6 with an Ice Class 1A Super strengthened hull. It will be equipped with two Airbus helicopters, a custom-designed Triton AVA submersible, Zodiacs, and Fassmer tenders.
Glen Moroney, founder and chair of Scenic Group, said: “Scenic Ikon has been conceived, engineered and built with our in-house ship building division at MKM Yachts and will be operated entirely by our own dedicated Scenic crew.
“This remarkable vessel is the result of more than three years of passion, innovation and development by our team, and we are delighted to share the Discovery Yacht with our valued guests, travel agents and partners.”
He continued: “Every element of Scenic Ikon’s design has been optimised to deliver unrivalled experiences across diverse destinations and environments, from its primary base The Mediterranean to the wilds of Antarctica.”
Construction of Scenic Ikon is underway, following a steel-cutting ceremony in February 2025 attended by Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, and the keel laying in May 2025.
The ship will set sail from Venice in April 2028, with its maiden season including sailings through to March 2029 featuring 110 ports, 21 countries, and 26 new destinations spanning the Mediterranean, Aegean and Egypt, Cape Verde, Dakar, Antarctica, The Falkland Islands and Chilean Fjords.
There will be 15 dining options onboard, as well as the 1,700 sqm, two-level Senses Rejuvenation Spa, featuring therapies, hydrotherapy and thermal experiences.
It comes after the Scenic Group posted its best trade sales week to date, with sales through the trade in January 2025 outperforming sales from the same period in 2024 by more than 35 per cent.
