Riviera Travel sees wave trade sales soar by 50% year-on-year

Riviera Travel has seen its wave period sales through its travel agent partners rise by 50% year-on-year

The river cruise and escorted tour operator attributed the increase to greater engagement with agents and its focus on strengthening its trade team.

Riviera confirmed Chris McCloskey and Lloyd Morris will join its sales team on 22 January as key account manager for Scotland and Ireland and key account manager for the UK and Ireland respectively.

Stuart Milan, trading director at Riviera, said: “It’s fantastic to see such a positive performance from our agent partners. River cruise is selling particularly well through the trade, with The Blue Danube, The Douro, Porto and Salamanca and Rhine Cruise to Switzerland itineraries making up a majority of sales.”

Vicky Billing, head of trade and partnerships, said the results were “testament to the hard work” the brand has put in to building its trade partnerships.

“We know there is scope to grow even further, which is why we are focused on ensuring our trade team is set up to provide agents with whatever they need,” she added.

As part of its current wave incentive, running in January and February, agents who make a Riviera booking will automatically be entered into a giveaway draw, with prizes up for grabs such as all-expenses Riviera escorted tours, holiday voucher and merchandise packages worth more than £3,000, and iPads with air pods.
