OTA The Cruise Globe ‘racing’ to hire more agents as sales boom

Matt Jones

Online travel agency The Cruise Globe has ramped up its search for travel advisors as it seeks to reach £50 million of annual turnover by 2027

CEO and founder Matt Jones said the company, which is built around The Cruise Globe app, a free-to-use tracking platform where users can log their cruise history, surpassed £1 million in cruise sales in the seven weeks since its launch, and is now “racing” to secure more agents to meet demand.

Jones said the data provided by the app gives agents a “complete picture” of a customer’s cruise preferences before a conversation begins, giving them a headstart when they suggest lines or itineraries.

He described the use of the technology as a “superpower” for travel advisors, saying the data makes them “five times more effective” than those without.

“We’re experiencing growth much faster than we anticipated,” said Jones. “Our biggest challenge isn’t now finding customers, it’s hiring enough great travel advisors to keep up with demand.

“Our advisors use smart, AI-powered tools behind the scenes to take care of the busywork, but the job of guiding a client toward their next cruise will always sit with a person. We are resolute in our belief that people still want human interaction and a relationship with a trusted advisor when they book their cruises.

“Our advisors are absolute experts at what they do, we just make them five times more effective with technology.”

He added: “People don’t want an algorithm planning one of the biggest holidays of their year. They want a trusted advisor who understands them. Our technology simply gives that advisor superpowers.”
