The revamped vessel features a new bar and lounge, remastered next-generation owner’s suites, and enhanced suites and staterooms.

As part of its OceaniaNEXT initiative, which sees the line’s existing fleet of ships undergo extensive refurbishments over the next few years, leading cruise line Oceania Cruises has revealed the dramatic transformation of its cruise ship Riviera, featuring an all-new coffee bar area and lounge, and redesigned suites and staterooms.

The brand-new Bar Istas has been given a modern makeover with a silvery-grey and silver-green colour palette punctuated with luxurious gold accents and high-gloss ebony and marble. Complete with sweeping sea views over Deck 14, it is the perfect place for guests to enjoy a bespoke illy coffee, courtesy of the new Victoria Arduino espresso machine.

Riviera’s 200 concierge staterooms, 244 veranda staterooms and 124 penthouse suites have been given a stylish makeover, inspired by those found on the cruise line’s Insignia and Sirena vessels. New carpeting and fabrics in shades of espresso, caramel and ivory have been fitted into the rooms and cleverly offset the existing wenge walnut panelling and upholstered headboards featured in the rooms.

The biggest transformation has been the remastering of the three next-generation owner’s suites. Furnished exclusively with the Ralph Lauren Home Collection, the walls have been inset with Georgian wood panelling and a mahogany and quartzite bar. Spacious and airy, the grand and elegant foyer now includes a limestone and black cabochon inset floor and a self-playing ebony piano. It has been fashionably dressed in the brand’s Grimaldi-weave sail fabric.

Meanwhile, the elegant living room has a nautical theme with a mahogany Lounge Moderne chair upholstered in navy and white super-yacht stripes. Taking centre stage of the dining room is a Mayfair dining table crowned with a spectacular Barrett Knurled chandelier overhead.

finally, the master suite encompasses a new Ralph Lauren Cote D’Azure king-size bed, elegant Mayfair Bergere side chairs upholstered in the brand’s signature suede, and nickel-trimmed lighting accents. Finally, the wraparound teak verandas feature stylish pieces that were custom-crafted by Ralph Lauren Home for Oceania Cruises.

Designed by Los Angeles-based Trevor R. Howells Interior Design, the owner’s suites have been redesigned to reflect Ralph Lauren’s appreciation for sailing, Hollywood glamour and timeless beauty.

“With the evolution of OceaniaNEXT, this was a great opportunity to not just enhance the guest experience aboard Riviera, but to elevate it through the addition of surprising new elements,” comments president & CEO of Oceania Cruises Bob Binder.

Riviera’s exciting enhancements took place during the ship’s dry-dock in Marseille, France, as part of the brand’s OceaniaNEXT programme. Similar enhancements will be carried out on Riviera’s sister-ship, Marina, in May 2020.
