Watch: Norwegian Encore hits construction milestone ahead of launch

Norwegian Encore

Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest ship has emerged for the first time from the Meyer Werft ship building dock in Papenburg, Germany, as NCL’s exclusive footage reveals.

The 3,998-guest Breakaway Plus-class Norwegian Encore will remain in the shipyard for the final phase of construction, before setting sail for its conveyance cruise up the Ems River and towards the North Sea at the end of September.

Norwegian Encore will be christened in Miami on 21 November 2019 and will start seven-day voyages to the Caribbean three days later, on 24 November.

The ship will also sail Bermuda, and Canada and New England itineraries from New York, beginning 22 April 2020, Western Caribbean from Miami beginning 12 December 2020, and in the spring 2021 will make its West Coast debut and sail to Alaska from Seattle.

Norwegian Cruise Line president and CEO Andy Stuart said: “To see the ship emerge from the shipyard is always one of the most exciting construction milestones.

“Our partners at Meyer Werft have been committed to our vision for not only Norwegian Encore but for this industry-leading class of ships, supporting our dedication to delivering our guests the best cruise vacation at sea.”

Norwegian Encore will feature the world’s longest race track at sea, measuring 1,100 feet with four high-speed curves, the largest outdoor laser tag arena and an immersive escape room and interactive theatre experiences. Guests will also experience a new Italian dining experience, Onda by Scarpetta, and the award-winning musical, Kinky Boots.
