Norwegian Cruise Line saw record-breaking sales following the reveal of its new ship, Norwegian Prima.
The ship has become the line’s “most in-demand ever”, NCL said, with record bookings on the first day and week of sales.
Voyages on Norwegian Prima will commence in summer 2022. The ship – the first of six in the new Prima class – will be able to accommodate 3,215 guests at double occupancy. It is being built in Italy by shipbuilder Fincantieri.
According to NCL, the ship will offer the “highest staffing levels and space ratio of any new cruise ship in the contemporary and premium cruise category”, and will have 13 suite categories.
It will also feature The Haven by Norwegian, a ship-within-a-ship concept with a sundeck, infinity pool and an outdoor spa with a glass-walled sauna and cold room.
Norwegian Cruise Line president and CEO Harry Sommer said: “Norwegian Prima is already proving to be a gamechanger for NCL. Norwegian Bliss, which debuted in 2018 and boasted our biggest booking day ever during her unveiling, has been outpaced by Norwegian Prima, which has doubled the prior record.
“In addition, nearly 20 per cent of bookings are for our Haven suites, indicating the desire for top-of-the-line experiences.
“Every aspect of Norwegian Prima, from bow to stern, was conceptualised with the guest in mind. With this world-class ship, we are providing our guests with more wide-open spaces, elevated service, thoughtful design and a variety of experiences that go beyond expectation.
“Our record-breaking sales are a clear indicator of our guests’ excitement to return to the ocean and of the significant demand for a premium vacation experience.”
Speaking earlier this month when the ship was announced, Sommer said: “Despite not having sailed in more than a year, we never stopped working and innovating, we never once pressed pause.
“In fact, we doubled down on our brand investment in order to deliver unforgettable guest experiences that go well beyond expectations.”
NCL is preparing to restart operations in July.
