On December 19 1966, Sunward set off on its first cruise from Miami to the Caribbean for a new company called Norwegian Caribbean Lines. Half a decade on the firm is known as Norwegian Cruise Line, it has 14 purpose-built resort-style ships (including the newest, Norwegian Escape) that are bigger and brighter, visit more than 300 destinations worldwide and on which casual cruising is the order of the day.
