MSC Cruises has revealed that MSC Seascape has completed a set of sea trials.
It is the fourth ship in the line’s Seaside class and second Seaside EVO ship built by Fincantieri in Italy.
The ship’s systems were tested during a multiple-day trial between 17-20 August.
MSC Seascape will be delivered to MSC Cruises in late November and will come into service in December 2022 – the second planned launch this year for the line following MSC World Europa.
A naming ceremony will take place in New York on 7 December 2022 at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal.
It will sail year-round from Miami to the Caribbean, offering two different seven-night itineraries.
MSC Seascape will call at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve and Nassau in the Bahamas, as well as San Juan and Puerto Plata, or Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Cozumel, George Town, and Ocho Rios.
Sustainability concepts on MSC Seascape
MSC Seascape will feature the “latest environmental technologies”, according to MSC Cruises.
It will use selective catalytic reduction systems to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions by up to 90 per cent, while a hybrid exhaust gas cleaning system will remove 98 per cent of sulphur oxide from its emissions.
There will also be various effective energy-efficiency improvements on board, such as heat recovery systems and LED lighting, as well as an underwater radiated noise management system to reduce and isolate the potential effects on marine mammals.
