Today, MSC Cruises announces the best ever two weeks of trading for MSC Cruises UK & Ireland. The cruise line is trading 32 per cent up year on year and credits their excellent relationship with the trade for the record breaking numbers.
Antonio Paradiso, MD of MSC Cruises for the UK & Ireland said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to the trade for their dedication and support in what promises to be another record breaking year. We have seen huge engagement from the trade which has allowed us to continue to expand our distribution and further our commitments through incentive activities such as the MSC Choctacular promotion.”
The bestselling product is the East Med which is making a return to popularity this year, closely followed by EX-UK cruising on MSC Magnifica, Western Mediterranean itineraries including the brand new for 2018 MSC Seaview, and Caribbean cruises from Miami onboard MSC Seaside.
Of the new ships and the effect on the sales Antonio added: “There is no doubt that the new ships are driving sales and as a result we are seeing an increase in both volumes and rates. Passengers are willing to spend money on higher ticket products such as the Yacht Club or on the new ships which is testament to the increased confidence in our brand.”
In order to reward the agents for their hard work the cruise line launched the #mscchoctacular giveaway earlier this year. The cruise line will give away thousands of MSC chocolate bars between now and 28 February. Inside the bars will be 10 golden tickets, with the 10 lucky winners getting a place at the prestigious MSC Seaview Christening celebrations in June 2018 which will take place in Rome. MSC Cruises’ Sales team will be distributing the chocolate bars throughout January and February. There are still 8 tickets left out there somewhere so it’s all to play for.
Director of sales Steve Williams, added: “In 2017, we doubled the size of the sales team which has allowed us to increase agent engagement and our presence on the high street. In order to further our commitment to the trade we are expanding the sales team and are now recruiting a regional sales manager for the North East. The sales manager will be responsible for providing hands on support to the agents in this area where there is high, consistent demand for the product.”
