An annual survey has revealed more than half (53%) of British cruise customers are “certain or very likely” to book an ex-UK itinerary this year

The poll by cruise specialist cruise.co.uk, which questioned more than 8,000 past passengers, found a further 24% of Brits were “fairly likely” to opt for a domestic departure, representing an overall 5% increase compared to 2023.

Demand for fly-cruise also remained high, with 64% of those asked saying they were “certain or likely to” set sail abroad this year, representing the same number as 2023.

The survey forms part of a wider report, which predicts 2024 will be the third consecutive year holidays-at-sea experience an uptick in demand.

Tony Andrews, managing director of the agency, said: “We’re very encouraged to see yet more people interested in taking a getaway-at-sea, which can offer some of the best holiday experiences available at incredible value-for-money.

“With even more ships launching over the next 12 months, the variety of destinations, product and prices mean there is something to cater for every taste and budget.”

Agency honours best cruise suppliers during 19th annual conference

The findings come after the firm honoured suppliers from across the industry at an awards evening during its 19th annual conference in Obertauern, Austria.

Hosted by Chris Gardner, chief executive, and Andrews, the awards recognise achievements nominated by the cruise.co.uk internal teams, alongside various categories voted for by the agency’s customer database.

Royal Caribbean and Princess Cruises were jointly awarded the title of Best Mainstream Line, with Azamara crowned Best Luxury Line and Seabourn Best Ultra-Luxury Line.

P&O Cruises were the stand-out winner for the cruise.co.uk consultants, taking home awards for Best Reward Scheme, Best Booking System” and Most Helpful Cruise Line.

“The support we receive from our suppliers and their respective account managers is outstanding – it allows us to showcase the huge variety of sailings available across the industry,” Andrews said.
