InteleTravel reports 84 per cent increase in cruise bookings

Tricia Handley-Hughes InteleTravel

Cruise booking revenues for homeworking firm InteleTravel topped £20m in the year to the end of April 2025, marking an 84 per cent increase on the previous 12 months

Cruise business now accounts for 11 per cent of all InteleTravel bookings, up from 7 per cent a year ago. Average booking values have also risen during the period, up 10 per cent to nearly £3,200.

Over 2,500 InteleTravel agents are now booking cruises, an increase of 73 per cent compared with the same period last year.

InteleTravel managing director UK and Ireland Tricia Handley-Hughes put the growth down to increased training on the sector and the growing popularity of both ocean and river cruising.

“We are absolutely delighted with the figures and there is also far more to come,” she said.

“It is particularly gratifying to see that many more of our agents are selling cruises to their clients and also the booking values are continuing to rise. It is a testament to the hard work of our team and advisors all pulling in the same direction.”

Earlier this year, Cruise Trade News caught up with Handley-Hughes to understand why the river cruise sector is seeing more engagement from agents than ever.

“We have doubled our river cruise business, but I think we can do better,” she said. “We’ve grown that side of our business through dedication, whether it’s running dedicated features in our monthly newsletter to hosting webinars and podcasts all about the river cruise sector.”
