Hurtigruten has launched a year-round programme of expedition voyages departing from Dover from mid-March next year, which will go on sale from 20 June 2020.

The Norwegian cruise line has said that health and safety of guests and staff remain the number one priority for Hurtigruten and, following guidelines recommended by the Norwegian Government, has introduced additional practices to ensure safe, sustainable and enjoyable expedition cruising.

Hurtigruten cruises departing from Dover will be aboard MS Maud, which will carry fewer than 500 passengers and will have been refurbished prior to her arrival in the UK port.

As part of the multi-million-pound refurb project, MS Maud will feature new public areas with a contemporary Scandi aesthetic, along with three new restaurants.

Itineraries for 2021 include a 15-day Norway’s winter fjords and the Northern Lights sailing, departing from Dover in March 2021, and Oct 2021 – March 2022.

It visits Norway’s southern fjords and Arctic North, and highlights include Stavanger, Alesund, Lofoten Islands, two days in Tromso, the North Cape and UNESCO World Heritage Site of Bergen.

The 15-day Summertime in Norway’s fjords and her islands voyages, departing from Dover in April – September 2021, sail along the Norwegian coast.

A British Isles 13-day expedition cruise, departing from Dover in May – September 2021, visits remote islands off the British mainland.

Highlights include Fishguard, Rathlin Island (excursion to Giants Causeway possible), Iona, Staffa (sail by scenic cruising of Fingal’s Cave), St Kilda, Stornoway, Islay, Isle of Man, Waterford, Isles of Scilly and Dartmouth.

Southern Scandinavia is a 15-day voyage departing from Dover in June and July 2021. The itinerary covers four countries, including Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Norway.

Highlights include the Kiel Canal, Skagen, Koster, the Weather Islands, Oslo, Hardanger and Lysefjord.

Prices are yet to be released by Hurtigruten.
