Staff training consultancy firm Ethos Farm has announced it has received certification under the Maritime Labour Convention 2006 (MLC) to enable it to recruit for additional areas, including ship crew.

The company currently handles the recruitment of retail staff for cruise ships worldwide, through a specialist division headed up by account director Robi Gaine.

“With the cruise industry growing at an unprecedented rate, the demand for excellent staff has never been greater and which is why we have elevated and quality-assured our service offering to support operators, retailers and all on-board businesses with sourcing exceptional talent,” said Gaine.

The MLC came into force on 14 August 2014 to ensure the safety and standards for seafarers.

Ethos Farm CEO Sally Alington added: “Becoming MLC certified has been an ambition of ours since we began providing services to the cruise sector two years ago and so we are delighted to announce this news today.

“As a business that always endeavours to do the right thing for customers and employees alike, it was hugely important to us to work hand in hand with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and support the standards they have set.

“We are very excited by the work we are doing in the cruise sector and that is why we have been building our team.”

Cruise Trade News recently revealed that Ethos Farm will sponsor the Best Companies category at the 2020 Wave Awards.

CTN has partnered with US-based employee engagement survey specialist Best Companies Group to discover the best companies to work for in the cruise industry – both cruise lines and the travel agencies selling cruise. More information can be found at www.ctnbestcompanies.com.
