Diamond Princess‘ cruise director Natalie Costa has taken to Twitter to share a Valentine’s Day video.
Dressed in a red outfit and in her cabin for the occasion, the cruise director reassured followers that everyone on board is “keeping together as a family”, before sharing how the Princess Cruises crew will be working hard today to give quarantined guests on board a special Valentine’s Day.
“I just wanted to check in with everyone and say we are all hanging in there, we’re doing fine, and keeping together as a big family,” she said.
“I have to explain my attire, this hasn’t been my regular attire in the last seven days or so. I’ve just literally run in from The Wake Show filming an episode for Valentine’s Day.
“A lot of questions coming in about what we are doing throughout the day. It changes from hour to hour. We are manning the phones, we are getting deliveries out, different games and puzzles, our youth staff looking after our junior cruisers. A little bit of everything. Wherever we are required, that is where we are.”

The cruise director also issued a thank you for all of the social media messages and letters they have been receiving on board, as well as to her fellow colleagues and crew members, who have been working so hard to look after passengers during this time.
“Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. To everyone on board and our shoreside teams and especially to my fellow colleagues and crew members. #hangintherediamondprincess. We can do this.”
Diamond Princess has been under quarantine in Yokohama, Japan, since 5 February, with 219 positive cases of coronavirus confirmed on board.
The cruise line announced yesterday (13 February) that it has started to allow guests to disembark the ship to complete their quarantine period on shore.
