Cruise Challenge prize winner: ‘A brilliant opportunity to learn & have fun’

Cruise Challenge, travel agent training

Project Paradise Travels owner Lizzi Schrecklinger, who attended the Leeds Cruise Challenge in early June, speaks of her joy at winning a cruise courtesy of Royal Caribbean.

The unique training event – known as the travel agent roadshow with a difference and organised by Cruise Trade News – fuses education and entertainment with a one-of-a-kind gameshow.

For the Leeds event, agents heard from Fred Olsen Cruise Lines and Royal Caribbean, with both brands providing key information to help agents sell more cruise holidays.

Schrecklinger was the winner on the night of a seven-night cruise with Royal Caribbean.

How did it feel to win a Royal Caribbean cruise?

Unreal. Of course, I was hoping for it just like everyone else in the room, but there’s no way I expected to be the winner. It was a massive surprise and I feel extremely grateful.

How enjoyable was the gameshow?

It was brilliant. The gameshow host created an amazing vibe and we simply had to have fun.

It must be a challenge itself to lead this show, and to manage the perfect balance of fairness, knowledge, coordination, fun and laughter. He absolutely mastered it.

How does the Cruise Challenge compare to other trade training events you have attended?

It was the perfect mix of networking, presentations, and educational entertainment. I have never laughed so much at a training event.

Would you recommend the Cruise Challenge to fellow travel agents ?

Yes – I have posted about this amazing experience on my social media, and I also let other agents in my team and my wider network know about upcoming Cruise Challenge events.  It’s a brilliant opportunity for agents.

The event and the cruise that I won will help me to complete my second CLIA certification sooner than I expected.

How important is it to you as an agent to hear directly from cruise lines, as you did at the Cruise Challenge?

It is vital for my business. As I’m an online travel business, it is important to me to have access to digital information and to keep updated via social media and email.
