Costa Cruises: Coronavirus, costa luminosa

Costa Cruises ship Costa Luminosa has docked in the French port city of Marseilles, the cruise line has confirmed.

The 1,400 passenger ship, which has at least two confirmed cases of coronavirus (covid-19) on board including one German and one Danish passenger who tested positive, reached the port yesterday morning (18 March) and the cruise line has been working with the French authorities to arrange the disembarkation of guests.

A Costa Cruises spokesperson said: “Costa Luminosa has reached the port of Marseille this morning.

“Costa Crociere is working closely with the French authorities to define the modality for today’s disembarkation, in compliance with the relevant health protocols.

“The ship is then scheduled to continue towards Italy, where Costa Cruises is working with local authorities to complete disembarkation for remaining guests.

“The health and safety of guests, crew members and of the destinations are of the utmost importance for Costa Crociere.”

Costa Cruises, which is owned by Carnival Corporation, is one of many cruise lines that has had to suspend sailings in light of the coronavirus outbreak. The line has stopped the global operations of its ships until 3 April 2020.
