Celebrity Cruises has announced that the fifth ship in its Edge series will be named Celebrity Xcel.
The name was revealed during a steel cutting ceremony at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France.
Celebrity Xcel will make its debut in November 2025 in the Caribbean, sailing an inaugural winter season from Fort Lauderdale, on seven-night itineraries alternating between the Bahamas, Mexico and the Cayman Islands, and Puerto Plata, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten.
These sailings are now open for sale.
Celebrity Xcel a ‘bold step’ for Celebrity Cruises
Celebrity Cruises president Laura Hodges Bethge said: “The Edge Series has shattered preconceived notions of cruising and I am thrilled to announce our next bold step as a brand with Celebrity Xcel.
“True to her name, this next ship will excel beyond her sister ships with entirely new experiences, yet to be revealed, but that will change the game all over again.”
The line said that Celebrity Xcel, like its sister ship Celebrity Ascent – which launches in December 2023 – will feature a range of on-board experiences that “stand these ships in a class of their own”.
These include the Retreat, an exclusive resort-within-a-resort area for suite guests, as well as an expanded Rooftop Garden and Resort Deck featuring cantilevered float pools and a multi-level, multi-terraced Sunset Bar redefining the ship’s aft.
Elsewhere, it will also include a redesigned Grand Plaza, spanning three decks, and the Magic Carpet platform.
