Celebrity Cruises has announced that Giles Hawke has been appointed as vice-president and managing director for the EMEA region.

Hawke, who is stepping down from his role as Cosmos and Avalon Waterways UK chief executive, will report to Celebrity’s new president Laura Hodges Bethge and will oversee all aspects of the line’s EMEA business.

He will join the company in September 2023, succeeding Jo Rzymowska, who has been at the helm for the last 18 years.

Hawke has 30 years’ experience in the travel industry, including as sales and customer service director at Carnival UK.

He has also held other senior positions in the cruise sector, including UK & Ireland MD for MSC Cruises.

Hawke also serves on the CLIA Executive Committee and will continue to support and lead change for the sector in his new role at Celebrity Cruises, a statement said.
