AmaWaterways has launched its latest river ship, AmaDahlia.
The 72-passenger vessel departed Luxor on 6 September 2021 for the Secrets of Egypt & The Nile cruise.
The 11-night cruise and land itinerary includes three nights in Cairo pre-cruise and one-night in Cairo post-cruise, with a stay in the Four Seasons Hotel.
The line will operate the itinerary seasonally from September through June each year, sailing from Luxor to Aswan with internal flights between Cairo and Luxor.
Guests on the inaugural cruise were joined by co-founders Rudi Schreiner and Kristin Karst for a cocktail hour, as well as an appearance from AmaWaterways’ Egyptian president of wings for tourism investment, Ahmed Atef El Wassief.
AmaDahlia features 36 staterooms, a swimming pool, bar, open deck dining as well as other restaurants.
Karst said: “I am absolutely delighted to have our wonderful new AmaDahlia sailing the Nile River.
“It was truly such a joy to be with our guests as together we discovered the beautiful setting on board, reflecting the local culture and distinctive art of the region.
“Egypt has a very special place in my heart, and I am so excited to have many more guests experience the beauty of AmaDahlia and the unparalleled experiences that this itinerary offers.”
Schreiner added: “We are so appreciative of our Egyptian partners, who helped us launch AmaDahlia on time to start her inaugural season as planned this September.
“Their local experience has been critical throughout all the design and construction period and we look forward to continuing to work together to share the iconic wonders of Egypt with our guests.”
AmaDahlia’s sailing follows the christening of AmaSiena at the beginning of September.
The ship, launching in 2022, will sail a variety of seven-night itineraries on the Rhine, including the Enchanting Rhine, Captivating Rhine and festive Christmas Markets on the Rhine.
